Tennessee Ridge Farm
September 03, 2010
Greetings All !! Well what a month August has been for the farm,  For starters the State of Tennessee Dept of AG had not giving us an inspection for over a year, we wanted to start a commercial kitchen, so after many calls we were told to go and start our kitchen and an inspector would come, this was back in 2009.  So in 2010 Dickson Farmers market starts up, and we brought some of our products from our commercial kitchen. One day we get a call from Mr. Greenfield,( UT Ext Office ) and he said the State has no paperwork of us being a commercial kitchen, well of course not we have not been inspected yet and are operating on a verbal ok from the State. We call again and get the head man, he sends an inspector out right away! The inspector was very happy at what she saw and was satisfied that we were always in compliance and then some, and she gave us permission to keep going. We took a copy of the paperwork to Mr. Greenfield showing we were a commercial kitchen. A week latter 9/2/10 he calls the State and was told we were not a commercial kitchen so we were not allowed to sell our baked goods at the Farmers Market. Now back in Aug 28, 2010 customers were asking where are all the farm vendors? Well I did not know, until now, because we can not sell our baked goods at the Dickson farmers market we have to find another place to sell our products. We started finding the missing vendors, all unhappy with the Dickson farmers market for one reason or another, but we have to sell our products or we will have problems paying for the stuff we bought to make these wholesome safe products for you!  SO we have no option but to have a store here at the farm! The BIG benefit here is you tell us what you would like to have !!!
Ok Wal-Mart says the same thing so go ask them for a chicken that grandma used to cook for Sunday dinner, OH YEA and don’t forget the home made dumplings! So just go to the deli and ask for that. We will have in our farm store  the stuff you would find at Eden’s Bounty in Dickson. Items like Pickled eggs, Home made breads, spice honey, granolas, rolls, cakes, on and on! We will also offer
CLASSES on how to DIY (do it yourself) so when times get really bad and the bankers win, you will have knowledge on basic food preserving, canning, freezing, drying, and poultry processing,
Firewood cutting, stacking, and measuring. Outdoor camp fire cooking skills, using cast iron pots and pans, Soap making, how to raise your own chickens, incubating eggs, raising chicks, and bird training.
We offer services also, like for you turkey hunters, love the hunt but hate the pluck? Call ahead and well get the scalders going so when you get here we dunk and drop into our fast gentle plucker machine, gut, bag and you’re out of here in minutes!
We are your local farm so use us or lose us! It’s that simple.
